Understanding Lighting as it Relates to LEED Compliance
Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) defines green design, promotes green design practices, and rewards organizations that adopt green design. LEED projects are certified according to the number of points achieved, indicating how green a building is: Certified (26-32), Silver (39-51) and Platinum (52-69). Compliance with lighting relates to at least 8 points and up to a maximum of 22 points of the total LEED points posible. Key lighting areas include:
- Sustainable Sites
- Energy & Atmosphere
- Materials & Resources
- Indoor Environmental Quality
- Innovation & Design Process
